IMPROVEMENTS IN THE LOADING DEVICE FROM SUPER-8 TO SINGLE-8 (part 8: SCOTCH 3M VINYL ELECTRICAL TAPE )

Fujifilm film cartridges were designed to be reused. During the first years, cartridges were secured with an adhesive tape, which they removed in the laboratory, and replaced with another tape once reloaded. Over time, Fuji stopped reusing the cartridges and both parts of the cartridge came glued together.

It is very easy to break this glue, with a gentle twisting torsional movement:  since the latest Fuji cartridges (made in this Century) are essentially identical to those manufactured from 1965 to 1975), they allow infinite reloading and use eternal. This has become very important, at a time when we are increasingly aware of not generating garbage or wasting resources.

The adhesive tape to secure the cartridge, once closed with new film stock, is very important that it is not made in Red China, which, over time, its adhesive leaves a residue. I use 3M Scotch Vinyl Electrical Tape, proudly made in the United States (meeting all environmental safety requirements). An advantage of 3M tape is that it can be removed without residue on the cartridge, multiple times, over the time, even after the cartridge has been stored in a refrigerator or endured high temperatures outside. For this reason, I recommend 3M  SCOTCH Vinyl Electric Tape.
